Composition and geological origin
Onyx is a calcite (calcium carbonate) stone formed through the deposition of mineral-rich water, typically near hot springs or caves. This layered sedimentary process creates the stone's characteristic wavy, veined patterns.
Semi-translucency (most important feature)
Unlike most decorative stones, onyx allows light to pass through it to some degree. This quality makes it exceptional for backlighting applications in walls, countertops, and decorative panels.
Color and pattern
